It’s Time to Clean House
Having been a contractor for a number of years I know how easy it is to try different forms of marketing just to find out what works. I also know how easy it is to keep on using marketing methods long after I should have figured out they aren’t doing me much good. For me that was my membership in the local Home Builder’s Association which didn’t get me a single job though I was paying $370 per year. For a lot of people, a yellow pages ad is something people pay a lot of money for but don’t get anything in return. I’m building a website and will be optimizing it for search for a customer in Sacramento who spent $50,000 a year on his yellow pages ads and didn’t know if he got a single customer from it. They’re cleaning house and replacing those ads with a much smaller website and SEO budget that will do them a lot more good. For many it’s tough to ditch the yellow pages because for so many years you HAD to have a yellow pages ad if you didn’t want to be considered a fly-by-night operation. Those days are long behind us.
